The air is crisp, the grass is greener, squirrels are busy stocking up nuts and Sara has gone crazy. Many greyhound owners report their dogs becoming much more active as the weather cools(most likely due to how sensitive they are to extreme heat/cold). Sara has been running around the house like a madwoman, and this is AFTER our daily 45 min walk. She also has been looking for more things to chew on, good thing the house is mostly puppy proofed.

Here she is zooming

After a zoom session she is happy to snooze the afternoon away until dinner or their nightly chew.

Sara continues to do really well here. I love her antics and fun personality, she is always happy and outgoing. She has no issues at all except for learning some more leash manners, but she has come a long way and now does greyt 80% of the time on walks. This silly girl makes me smile every day.

NLGA Picnic

I had a blast with Sara yesterday at the picnic. She gets along with everybody, whether on two or four legs. Sara was a super star walking around and checking everything out. Her favorite spot was, of course, the concession stand. She really wanted to get her paws on the hot dogs and sloppy joes people were ordering.
So many people were impressed by her sit, some saying "I've heard of greys sitting, but haven't seen one until now!" They also commented on how muscular her booty is, I never noticed it before but compared to a lot of greys there, she sure is booty-licious.

I entered her in the costume contest as a hula girl. Turns out this is the first time that a foster dog has entered the picnic's costume contest! We didn't win, but she looked adorable. I have no pics of her at the picnic since it is difficult to take a good snap of a dog leashed to you at the hip, so instead I took some vids of her in the hula girl costume this afternoon for your viewing pleasure.

It was nice to meet some blog followers and there was so much greyhound goodies on auction or for purchase.
The Gilley Girls performance was awesome.
My favorite part is meeting and chatting with all the beautiful greyhounds and their owners. I hope you can join us next year!

Sara's been here for almost 6 weeks. She is so smart, sweet and has a case of terrible twos.

After many weeks of walking daily, she has gotten so much better. She no longer needs to sniff things forever or stand in one place/zone out. She responds to my corrections and doesn't need to smell everything to death.

She kennels very well. I usually leave her alone for only a few hours, but the few times I've crated her for 6-7 hours, she still does wonderful. With one caveat: the weims must be home with her as well. I took the weims to the dog park this Tuesday for 2 hours and she cried the entire time. Poor sweetheart. If you would like to adopt Sara, keep in mind she needs alone training or should have another dog in the house. Also, she is not cat safe.

She is so smart. I grab a treat and tell her "kennel" and she runs right in. She loves to play fetch (I'll have to get a vid someday). And she knows her sit and down.

Sara really loves to give my Hubby kisses. And of course, daily cuddle time is a must. I have not heard a single snark from her and no aggression of any kind.

Sara has a case of the Terrible Twos. More greyhound crime: she's chewed up 4 of my house flip flops! Thankfully, they are cheap house flip flops. I keep the house puppy proofed, but I keep forgetting to put away the flip flops. Bad Foster Mommy!
She is a master at breaking through the baby gates when I don't place them secure enough...

Sara makes everyday fun. I love this silly girl!

I got a new camera and did a photo shoot for her. Isn't she a beauty?
