The Bowl Collector

We've been fostering Sara for a month now and she continues to make me laugh every day. Sara is easy going with a little bit of mischief from time to time(keep in mind she is only 1 years old). If I forget to take up the weim's food bowls after feeding, Sara loves to find them to play/bite/lick.

Lucy's bowl is ceramic with blue paw prints. Leroy's bowl is white plastic and he gets fed downstairs, so Sara has to bring it all the way back upstairs before chewing on it.

Nesting

People who are familiar with greyhounds know that many love to nest. Sara is a nester. Her style is not too fancy and more on the lazy side. She sometimes does it standing up in one place, paws moving back and forth. The other way she nest is to sit and have her legs straight forward as she nests. She's too cute! Sorry about the grainy footage, it was dark in the bedroom.

Sara is a velcro dog. She always follows me out of a room and check out what I'm doing. She loves to have cuddle time with me; Sara usually roaches and will let me lay all over her, kiss, rub and hug her.

We had a couple nieces and a nephew over this past week (ages 5, 6, and 7) and Sara did wonderfully with them. She loved all the attention and pets.

She's a Talker

Sara cracks me up all the time! I've had a few fosters that "chatter", but Sara is my first talker! I finally got it on video:

Sara is such a good girl and so much fun! <3

Warning To All Toys...

...Sara is a toy killer! She will chew them up and eat the bits if I don't catch her. I read about greyhounds and how most are very gentle with stuffies, many of them lasting for years. I guess she wanted to show the weims that she can "kill" toys just as hard.

Hot Outside

We have been fostering Sara for over two weeks now and she makes everyday hilarious and sweet. She "talks" sometimes and it is so funny! I wish I could tape it but it's over before I can even grab the Flip cam. I have failed to mention in the other posts that Sara is very good in the crate when I'm gone.
It has been so crazy hot that we hardly walk now. By the time 10 A.M. rolls around it is already in the mid 80's!
Since Sara has short bursts of energy throughout the day I entice her with toys in the house or let the three of them run around the yard. After just 10-15 minutes everybody is dead tired and ready for a snooze in front of the fan again. Hope you and all your furry ones stay cool and hydrated!

Cute video of Sara post yard zoomies. You can kinda see her adorable overbite <3

Grooming , Paws & Walks

The first few times I brushed Sara's teeth she was not into it. She walked away with a bunch of toothpaste all over her face. But after just a week of daily brushing she now enjoys it.
Sara's nails are dark so I have to dremel instead of clip to avoid hitting her quick. To keep her busy I give her a peanut butter smeared muzzle and she does greyt with the nail trim. Sara is good with ear cleaning and getting zoom-groomed.

Sara has one less toe than a normal dog. She had it amputated for some reason. It doesn't affect her at all though. Some dogs who come from the tracks or farms have very sensitive paw pads. Sara's pads are sensitive to paved road surfaces. She is fine if she walks on grass or smooth cement sidewalks.
Walking her has been a very different experience. Sara loves to smell everything. I tease that she is more bloodhound than greyhound. Sometimes she seems to go into a trance and will not walk and continues to sniff away. She will also stop on a walk and just not move. I still can't figure it out, but I'm guessing she just doesn't want to go for a walk longer than 10-15 minutes. Or it could be the heat? She will also try to take off after bunnies, squirrels and birds. Sara has plenty of energy in the house and loves to run around and play with toys, so the not wanting to walk has me stumped.

Sara has a wonderful personality. She has no space issues or aggression. She gets along with the weims famously and lets me love on her all day long. In fact, she gives The Paw if I stop. Sara does have some juvenile tendencies. She likes to chew on things that are not appropriate such as: shoes, electrical cords, clothing and bed frames to name a few. She always stops when I tell her. She also likes to mouth your hand when you play with her when she's excited, but I find this very cute. She is a velcro dog; gets up and follows me everywhere I go. Sara is a huge sweetheart <3

Paparazzi

I am guilty of taking a lot of video and pictures of the fosters. Well, Sara is the first one to say something about it. Once in a while she'll bark at me when I'm bugging her with the red record light or flash.

She is beautiful enough to be a movie star and sassy enough to deal with the paparazzi...

She tells me she might sue for millions... of cookies.
